Communication

Effective communication between home and the school is vital for the efficient running of Sandgate State School and for the maximum benefit to be gained by the students in our care. Please make appointments to speak to the relevant staff member if you have any issues, concerns or queries. Our focus is on the best outcomes for your child and we believe that by working together we can achieve this goal.

Access to classrooms

In the interests of maintaining a high level of safety within the school grounds, any parent, friend or visitor coming into the school must report to the School Office before proceeding. This includes parents on regular rosters e.g. classroom helpers, tuckshop volunteers and other school helpers. Visitors to the school will be issued with a Visitor’s Badge which should be returned upon leaving the School. Ex-students and friends of students do not have automatic access to the School grounds and should seek permission for access from the office. Ex-students and friends of students who do not follow this procedure will be asked to leave the School grounds immediately.

Parents are encouraged to speak frequently with their child’s teacher during the year. However, we would greatly appreciate it if you could avoid conversations with teachers during class time. It is best to make an appointment at a mutually agreeable time. Emailing the teacher is the best way to set up appointment times.

Newsletter

A comprehensive school e-newsletter is produced fortnightly. We encourage all parents to read these newsletters as they contain important messages and a calendar of up and coming events.

The majority of school families are now receiving the fortnightly newsletter by email. Please register your email address at the office. If you prefer to receive a paper copy, please let us know. The newsletter is also available on the school website and the Parent Community Board.
